How Safari Simmer Came to Be
As a pediatrician, my days are filled with urgency, heart, and healing. But when I step through the door at home, I’m a wife, a woman deeply connected to her roots, and a believer in the power of food to gather and ground us. I longed for meals that felt like home — bold, deeply seasoned, and filled with the flavor of my heritage — but without the time and stress that often comes with scratch cooking.
That tension led to a simple, powerful idea: What if there was a shortcut to authentic African flavor — one that didn’t sacrifice taste, soul, or story?
So I went back to the stove, testing, simmering, tweaking. I bottled the flavors I grew up with, the ones that carried my memories — onions sizzling with garlic, tomatoes cooked down with spice, a whisper of curry and anise. After countless tries (and even more taste tests with my husband James), Safari Simmer Tomato Stew was born.
It quickly became a staple in our kitchen. With one jar, I could bring jollof, spaghetti, stews, and soups to life in minutes. And when I shared it with friends and family, I realized this wasn’t just for me — it was for anyone craving connection, comfort, and culture in every bite.
Safari Simmer is more than a sauce. It’s a bridge — from my culture to yours, from busy days to soulful dinners, from tradition to table. It’s a reminder that flavor is powerful, and food can be both fast and full of heart.
Welcome to The Saucy African — we’re so glad you’re here.
