Penne à la Safari
Penne a la Safari made with Safari Simmer is a rich and creamy pasta dish where the bold flavors of Safari Simmer Tomato Stew replace the vodka, creating a savory, tangy tomato sauce with a hint of spice. The dish is perfectly balanced with a smooth, velvety texture, and served over penne pasta for a satisfying, flavorful meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Penne Pasta uncooked
- 1/4 stick Butter unsalted
- 1 jar Safari Simmer Tomato Stew
- 1 tsp Safari Sunset heat blend optional
- 1/2 cup Heavy cream
Instructions
- Boil a large, salted pot of water for your pasta and cook it al dente according to package instructions.
- Meanwhile (once the pasta starts to cook), add the butter to a skillet over medium-high heat until it melts.
- Optional step – Add ground beef, turkey, or chicken after the butter is melted and cook until browned for extra meaty goodness!
- Add in the Safari Simmer Tomato stew, cream. Stir until it’s nice and smooth. Let the sauce cook for about 5 minutes or until it’s thickened to your liking (it should be very gently bubbling, so you may need to turn down the heat).
- Optional Step – If the sauce is a little too acidic/tangy for your liking, add in a pinch of sugar.
- Drain the pasta and toss with the sauce (add a splash of hot pasta water if the sauce gets too thick). Serve immediately with plenty of parmesan cheese over top.
This is absolutely delicious! If you like Penne a la vodka, you will LOVE this! It is way more flavorful and the addition of cream really cuts the tomato sauce and provides a beautiful balance. I recommend using the Safari Sunset Heat Blend to adjust the spice level to your liking. We made it with cut up chicken breast – had dinner on the table in 20 minutes! As the recipe recommends, as you are boiling your water and cooking your pasta, you can cook your protein of choice then add the cream and Safari Simmer Tomato Stew. Couldn’t be easier OR more yummy!
